After brewing for many years and becoming sick of bottling 50+ beers everytime I brewed a 5 gallon batch of beer, I was ready for an easier and better way to carbonate my homebrew! Not to mention waiting that extra couple of weeks for the beer to carbonate in the bottles. That’s another 2+ weeks of time waiting for your beer to become ready to drink, when you could already be drinking it the day after it is done fermenting!

So I decided to try kegging my homebrew. I was a little intimidated at first with all the new equipment, but after seeing the simplicity of it, and how much easier it is than bottling I will never go back to bottling!

What you need to start kegging your home brewed beer:

5 Gallon Cornelius Keg (Ball or Pin Lock)

CO2 Tank

Dual Gauge Pressure Regulator

Gas Line and attached Disconnect

Beer line assembly with party tap and disconnect

I know if you have never done this, you are thinking “I don’t even know what those things are that I need.” But not to fear, there are plenty of homebrew keg kits out there, that come fully assembled and with EVERYTHING you need to start kegging your homebrew!

What to do:

Remove your keg lid, rinse out and fill with sanitized solution.

Place lid back on keg and attach your gas-in line and pressurize to 5-10psi just for 5-10 seconds to get some pressure in the keg.

Attach your beer-out line and open the tap to allow for sanitizer to flow out. Once sanitzer has run through your keg lines for a minute or so, open the keg and empty any additional sanitizer. Remove your beer line now also.

Transfer your homebrew into the keg, attach the lid, and add some CO2 to ensure good seal with the lid. (Note: Before transferring your beer to the keg, make sure your beer has is cold. CO2 will take to cold liquids better than warm ones. I do this by placing my fermenter in the fridge the night before I keg the beer).

Lay keg on its side, crank your CO2 up to about 15-25psi and roll/shake keg back and forth for 5-6 minutes or until you hear your keg stop “gurgling”.

Stand keg upright and place keg in your refrigerator, leave gas line attached and open at 15-25 psi for 24 hours.

After about 24 hours, release some pressure and set the PSI to about 6-10psi.

Re-attach black beer line assembly, grab a glass and enjoy yourself a nice homebrew!

That’s all there is to it! You will have carbonated beer within 24 hours of kegging it, not weeks!

This is by no means the only way to keg your home brewed beer, but it is the fastest! So if you are impatient like I am, and want to taste your beer as soon as possible, this is the way to go! Take it from me, once you start kegging and see how easy and great it is, you will never want to bottle your home brewed beer again!

Cheers!

OK, so recently I got the Samsung Galaxy S 4G through T-Mobile, love the phone, but the email notifications were driving me crazy. Every time I got an email, the notification sound would go off. This got really irritating, especially with all the junk mail that comes through.

After researching this a bit on the internet, everyone kept saying the same thing.
Here is how you turn it off:

Open the EMail App.

Press Menu.

Select More.

Tap Settings.

Check or uncheck email Notification.

So I did this but it didn’t work. I had 2 email accounts so I made sure that both of them had email notifications unchecked. But sounds would still come through.

After searching high and low through the phone I found another place where you can turn off the Email Notification on the Android Phone for good!

You have to disable the email notifications in your Gmail App, not the Email App. So here is what to do:

Open the GMail App. (In your applications)

Press Menu.

Select More.

Tap Settings.

Click your email account that you would like to enable or disable the notifications for.

Check or uncheck Email Notification.

Can changing a dog’s diet cause diarrhea?

Recently I switched my dogs food just to change it up for him. I figured he has to be sick of the stuff he has been eating for 4 years now… I’m sick of it, and I don’t even have to eat it! (haha) All kidding aside, I switched his food to a similar type of mixture (both were mainly lamb and rice) so I figured it would be fine.

He has been eating it fine with not problems. He had solid stools for about a week, now all the sudden he has been having extremely bad diarrhea for about 2 days straight. The stool is so soft that it is barley being held together, and appears to have mucus or slime in the diarrhea as well.

I did notice that this new dog food is quite a bit oilier/greasier than the last one that we had. Could the extra oil/grease in this new food be making it too hard for him to digest, causing the diarrhea?

I am a little concerned that something else is causing these symptoms because he was fine for about a week eating this new food. And now he starts having this runny diarrhea. Can it take a week or so after a dog’s diet change to start effecting them? Or should I be worried that he picked up some kind of a stomach parasite?

Our dog has not been in contact with many other dogs lately either, so I am not sure if he would have been able to pick up a parasite from another dog.

If anyone else has had this same problem, please fell free to post a comment below. I will be changing my dog’s food back to the old kind tonight, so if that fixes the problem I will let everyone know.

Alright… Bungie has got to do something about this. I have been booted from too many games over stupid accidental betrayals.

If you get one or two betrayals while playing Halo Reach online in a fairly short amount of time (couple hours) the system remembers that you have betrayed your own team and for the rest of the time that you are playing, and if you accidentally betray someone on your team, they will ALWAYS have the option to boot you! This is F!#&%ing retarded!!! Bungie needs to do something about this soon. There are too many jack asses out there that just want to boot people just because they can. The problem is when someone on your teams boots a decent player for an accidental betrayal, your team is now at a great disadvantage and chances are you will now loose the whole game because you are out-manned. I don’t want my team to lose a good player because of one bad grenade throw or rouge rocket.

Can’t bungie recognize if you are shooting your own team deliberately? They can track how many bullets you shoot and where you shot your opponents (i.e. “killed with a headshot”). So, they should be able to recognize if you have a high percentage of your bullets hitting your own team compared to your opponents. If someone is trying to kill their own teammate constantly, they I say, yes, ALWAYS give your teammates the option to boot you. But if you are getting an accidental betrayal once in a while, let it slide, or reset the clock on it more often!

I think a good way to solve this is just put a 2 betrayal cap on all new games. If you betray someone more than once in one game, the second time you do it, give them the option to boot you. At least that way if you start a new game and get one accidental betrayal on a game you are trying to win, you don’t get booted.

Most peole are playing to have fun and win, not to get kicked out of a game for a bad grenade toss. Bungie needs to handle this situation along with many other things for Halo Reach real soon!

I typically just have 1 serving of protein powder before and after I work out mixed with about 12oz. of water. I started getting pretty severe and painful cramps in my lower intestinal area later at night after having a couple servings of the new protein powder and working out in the evenings. Initially I didn’t think that it was the protein powder that was causing these cramps because they wouldn’t start until a few hours after having the shakes, and sometimes they wouldn’t start until late in the night.

It doesn’t seem to hurt my stomach at all, it’s more in the lower intestinal area, and feels like a sharp pain (like a knife) that will be there for about 10 seconds, then fade. This will continues on and off for a couple hours then goes away completely. I am not sure if I might be allergic to this new protein or what? It feels almost like its gas bubbles that are causing the pain, but nothing seems to be able to get past, and I can’t/don’t need to go to the bathroom.

Could it be that there is more Whey in this protein than the last one that I was using and my body doesn’t like it?

If anyone know what causes this or has experienced the same thing, please feel free to post comments below. Thanks!

So the story is I have had my Xbox 360 with the wireless adapter, set up with my Linksys wireless G router for a couple years now. The thing has been working great, fast connections, and never any problems. We have been able to stream movies through Netflix, and play Halo online with not connection problems.

About a week ago however, the connection seemed to slow pretty bad. I thought it was the Internet, so I called the cable company and had them reset everything. I ran some speed tests on my computer that was also linked wirelessly through the router. The speed was a little on the low side, but should have still worked fine for everything I was doing online with the Xbox.

When I try to play halo online, I was connected online and it seemed to take a little longer to get a game, but once I got into a game, it was unplayable. My connection would be so bad, either the opponents or I would just be bouncing lagging all over the place the whole game. It makes it impossible to play. A lot of the time it would show my connection at full green bars though which really confuses me.

Then when I try to stream videos through Netflix, the movies title pages would load, but when I select one to play, it just site there and can’t seem to load the movie. This had gone on for about a week.

So I decided to pull out my modem and connect the xbox directly to the it with an Ethernet cable. This fixed the problem. So now the question is, is the xbox wireless adapter going bad, or is my wireless router going bad? It there a way to test? Is it common for one of these to start slowing down like this? Its strange that the connection is still there, it’s jut not very strong.

Any info would be greatly appreciated before I start buying new equipment. Post comments below! Cheers!

I have a Macbook Pro that is just under 3 years old now. It is in really good condition and well taken care of. About 2 weeks ago the display on my Macboo Pro would not turn on. I tried a number of things from restarting, to safe booting, and even resetting the PVRAM, pmu etc., none of it worked! The computer would boot up just fine, but nothing would be on the screen. It was completely black. I even tried to plug the computer into an external monitor through the Display Out port on the side, but still nothing would come through.

After doing some research on what might be going on, I discovered that my Graphics Card in my Macbook Pro had gone out. I came across this article on Apple’s website stating that they would fix the problem under warranty as long as the computer was within 4 years old (which mine was) SEE ARTICLE HERE. So I took the computer into the Apple store and after running some diagnostic tests, they told me that my model computer and everything was correct, but the graphics card in my macbook pro was not one of the ones that they are covering. Apparently they use different graphics cards in the same model macbook pros and are only covering a certain card if it fails.

And to further the piss me off, they tell me that the graphics card is soldered onto the Logic board (which is basically your motherboard) so I would need to replace the whole Logic Board. And if I could find a logic board it would probably run me about $900.

I left the apple store furious! I cant spend $900 dollars on a computer right now, you can buy brand new computers for less than that!

Solution:

After asking around and about this problem a little more I found a way to get my logic board/graphics card replaced for free under warranty. Here is what I did:

After being refused by the apple store, I took my computer and a print up of this page to a third party apple maintenance shop. Most of these shops do everything that the apple store does including fixing computer problems under warranty. They are paid by apple to do repairs for them. So I found one locally and took my computer in with a print up of the problem that has been diagnosed.

They ran a couple tests, to make sure that the graphics card had failed. Once they saw that the graphics card had failed, and my model computer matched the print up, they ordered a new Logic Board and replaced it all under warranty for FREE!!! They didn’t check to see what graphics card I had, they just checked to make sure it was failing and I had the right model computer.

If you run into any issues where something on your computer is questionably under warranty, and the Apple store turns you away… Try taking your computer to a third party apple repair store!
